Chanousse - is one of the ancient cities of the administrative area of the Provence — Alpes — Côte d’Azur region, Department Hautes-Alpes, with an exciting millennium history. The city that has not lost its way over time, and has found its place under the sun to shine today in its entire splendor.

The tiny mountain village of Chanousse tempts every tourist that is in this area to climb to the highest point of the commune and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It dominates above the valley of Blaisance and offers stunning views of the alpine mountains. Chanousse is located on a hilltop at an altitude of 780 meters above sea level. This is probably the smallest municipality in the Hautes-Alpes, because its population consists of only 48 people. Locals are called Chanoussiens and Chanoussiennes. They are mainly engaged in agriculture, feeding sheep and donkeys at the broad pastures.
 
Chanousse village borders on several hamlets - Les Chabanas, Les Courtilles, Le Couvent, Les Granges de l'Eglise, La Combe, La Baume and Le Moulin. It also is a part of the «Interdépartementale des Baronnies».
