Barcillonnette is a small French commune in the Hautes-Alpes in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur. The name of the village is a diminutive of Barcelona, ​​though the capital of the Catalan has nothing in common with the village except the name.
This small village Barcillonnette is the capital of the canton of the same name from 1791. It also includes Esparron and Vitrolles. In January 1810 the village was referred to the department of the Hautes-Alpes. According to population census in 2013 Barcillonnette is inhabited by 156 residents who call themselves Barcillonnettes.
