Every year in early December Bandol gathers the connoisseurs of local wine - a cheerful, bustling and vibrant wine festival is held in the town! The citizens and the visitors together celebrate the appearance of the green wine from the berries of the new harvest – arrange colourful processions, concerts and theatrical performances.
Also it is worth (at any time of the year) to walk on the old square in the centre of the town, to see the ruins of an ancient castle and the town church.
The history of their town the villagers count from the XVI century when a strengthening titled «Bandol» was built here. At first it was just a commercial and port city until the representatives of the world's intellectual elite (Aldous Huxley, Marcel Pagnol, Thomas Mann, Fernandel) came here. The charm of these places made such an impression on them that thanks to them at the end of the XIX century Bandol became a "fashionable" resort. Not far from town Bendor is situated - an island belonging to a private individual. You can visit the World's Fair of Wines on which more than 7,000 bottles of wines of different varieties of almost all countries of the world are presented. Also on the island tourists can see great works of artists creating in the local shops.
At a distance of about 3 km from Bandol the Sanary-Bandol Zoo is situated with a Tropical Garden where you can perfectly spend the whole day enjoying the rare tropical plants and rare animals (you will bring funny photos with monkeys and small peccary pigs).
Very popular are the beaches of Bandol
among the diving amateur exploring the underwater world and tourists wishing to visit the thalassotherapy centre - to receive health services with the use of seaweed. There is also a marina attracting the supporters of yachting.
