Thanks to this, 100-year-old olive trees and spreading palms feel splendid here; and it is so pleasant to have rest under them on a hot summer day. After enjoying the nature, one can take pleasure sitting in a café or wandering along narrow paved streets, admiring local houses, medieval churches and the Chapel of Sancta Maria de Olivo.
In the resort of Beaulieu-sur-Mer there are villas above the golden sand beaches, and their beauty and elegance strikes imagination. It is just unthinkable – to come here and not to visit the most famous of them, villa Kérilos!
This is one of the main local tourist attractions. The villa is unique, because it is the reconstruction of the real antique structure of the kind, demonstrating to modern people the beauty and splendor of Ancient Greece architecture. The building (planned and built by Theodore R.. in 1902-1908) matches the landscape beautifully. And what wonderful mosaics and frescos are there!
Admire the copy of a genuine antique vase, decorated inside and outside with Carrara marble, ebony, bronze and opals.
The interior decoration, luxuriant furniture, the collection of copies of the most famous statues by ancient Greek carvers and musical instruments never leave anyone indifferent! Neither does the magnificent garden, surrounding villa Kérilos.
Beaulieu-sur-Mer has one more gem, it is the Historical Museum, situated in the famous Rotunda building. Created by the local historian named André Cane, the Museum is full of most interesting unique exposits – from those found in the archeological excavations of primeval settlements to the collections of various goods made by the local 19th-century craftsmen, plus photos and the pictures of local artists (the best known being Mossa and Kombas).
And the evening is just the time to have fun; the magnificent Grand Casino Beaulieu-sur-Mer is expecting visitors! By the way, it is here that annual rounds of FPS – French Poker Series – are held.
