Another lovely small and friendly town in Provence which we would like to introduce to you is Barcelonnette.

Having passed about 67 km on the road through the mountain saddles to the east of Gap we can visit the native land of the French prime minister, Paul Reynaud, the Nobel laureate P.-G. de Gennes and the famous athlete-skier, K. Merle.

Once having got in this cosy green, quiet and thin town (you can go round its centre in about half an hour) appraise the pretty central square and sit in one of the cafes enjoying the beautiful views. There is a tower here built in 1316, and several well-preserved buildings constructed in 18-19th centuries.
