Monuments - Notre Provence Group

It is on the territory of modern France the most beautiful historical monuments that represent the cultural heritage of the country are located. They are assigned by the experts to different civilizations and eras. This is a mysterious and enchanted land of the true charm of the country in which the energy of the younger generation skilfully woven.

Historic Monument – from the French term «monument historique» – such a status in the country get the objects that could be honoured to become the monuments of architecture and history of France. A complex of buildings, a separate construction or a building, a garden, a monument and much more can become an object which can be included in the attractions of national importance. Public authorities may also refer the relevant documents from the archives, church items, an antique ensemble items and to the historical values.

At that, a historical monument can be both public and someone else's property.

To protect the historical monuments two levels of protection were introduced – state authorities register them in a special classifier or include in a supplementary list which has the official name Inventaire Supplementaire des Monuments Historiques, ISMH. In the case of the first variant it is commonly believed that the monument is classified as a historical monument - from the French term «classé». In the latter they say that it is entered into the list, that is ‘inscrit’ – translated from the French as «written».
