Aromas enveloping Provence is a special story; no place in the world has the smells like them!

The air here seems to vibrate, because it is impregnated with the smell of meadow grasses and lavender. The scent-laden bouquet of Provence contains a lot of scents, and each of them has a most interesting story of its own!

These smells can make your head swim and turn a born skeptic into a dreamer! The fresh wind with a light fragrance of lavender and orange tree blossoms, the aroma of honey-sweet herbs - juniper, twine, rosemary- mixed with appetizing smells of spices and Mediterranean dishes in balmy evening air…

So, speaking about spices – all dishes in Provence are lavishly flavoured with them!

Local cooks do not spare dill or sage to supply fish dishes with wonderful taste, the same concerns thyme for their meat ‘masterpieces’. It’s impossible to enumerate everything, which the cooks use in their culinary magic: coriander, sweet basil, verbena, rosemary plus a lot of other herbs and seeds… which make an unbelievably ‘magic’ bouquet!

While visiting Provence, people with a sweet tooth should certainly visit the town of Montelimart. It is here, that the recipe of most tender nougat was created; this nougat is the exquisite desert made of lavender honey, pistachio nuts and sweet almonds!

Provence lavender fields attract the lovers of upscale French perfumery magnet-like, with their fairy-tale aromas. Their road lies to the perfumery capital which is called Grasse.

In its suburbs there are the farms of famous perfumery houses (Guerlain and Chanel, for instance). According to one of well-known perfumery ‘authors’ Jacques Polzh, nobody can forge the perfume Chanel №5, even if the formula is known for sure. The matter is that in the production of global brands exclusive plants with very special aromas are grown. Take, for example the most valuable Centifolia rose …

nown for sure. The matter is, thatretery authors lovers of French

But let’s not reveal all perfumers’ secrets – let’s better tell how a small town of Grasse became a perfumery centre of France.

Since the old times people made here beautiful leather goods of the finest currying.
