Amirat is a picturesque village located in the department of Alpes-Maritimes in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur in the green hills overlooking the Esteron Valley. It is surrounded by scenic evergreen woodlands.
 
Amirat consists of several small villages, which today is a home to only 63 residents. These are Les Agots, Le Village, Maupoil-Saint Jeannet, L'Ubac d'Amirat. Rural houses stand along the main road on a hillside with panoramic views of the mountain range of Mercantour and the snow-capped Italian Alps. Moderate climate, protected from the surrounding mountain ranges and warm sunny weather attract to the village the lovers of nature and quiet.
 
The name of the village comes from the Latin «Admiratum», which means «lookout» (first mentioned in 1043 year). Perhaps the name is related to the geographical location of the small town, which boasts a dominant species around.
 
The first written mention of Amirat dated from the 1125  year, because in these places the abbey Lerins was founded by that time. While the village was called Willelmi de amirad. It was only 1605 when in the journal of entries of Abbey of Saint Pons it was referred to as Admirat. Later the name was cutted and then it was called La commune d'Amirat, ie Amirat. The emblem of the village Amirat is the depicted squirrel and inscription «Faï toun dévév». Probably in the woods, where the village is located, there are many these forest dwellers.

It is a part of the municipality of Arvieux-en-Queyras. This commune also includes three hamlets located up the valley - Le Coin, La Chalpe and Brunissard. All four hamlets are focused on the development of agriculture, including the production of cheese, as well as the development of tourism. You will find here cozy hotels, authentic restaurants and cafes, a well-developed infrastructure, designed for winter and summer holidays.
 
Arvieux village is located in the center of the Queyras Valley and it is the capital of the commune. The name of the village comes from the Latin word «arviolum», which means «little field».

Alpine municipality of Ascros is known in the region by its location, because it is situated at 1,145 meters above sea level, among the dense evergreen forests, and offers incredible panoramic view on Mont Agel, snowy Gréolière, Esteron valley and first alpine peaks. The village has a long history. The first riddle date back to the year of 1066 when it was known as Сastrum. Only seven centuries in a row the settlement received the knowen name of Ascros. Surprisingly its origin is rooted gender of the word «crosus», which means «depression». While being to Ascros, the conclusion can be done quite the opposite - nothing in common with depression of villagers there. On the contrary, people are active, friendly and cheerful. To date, just 169 people engaged in farming, agriculture and pottery live the Ascros, according to the 2012 census.

It was built in the mid of 30s of last century when the dam created on the lake.
 
In the broad valleys locals graze sheep because sheep are the main type of activity. In the village there are several farms. The village is a part of the National Park of Ecrins. In the forests surrounding Aspres-lès-Corps, dry vegetation dominated; basically there are beech and pine plantations. It is a home to many wild animals, all kinds of classic mountain flora.
