On Thursday evening on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, people gathered waiting for the traditional fireworks on the occasion of Bastille Day.
Suddenly, the festive atmosphere was replaced by horror and panic – a huge white truck at a breakneck speed crashed into a crowd of thousands running over and mutilating adults and children ....
The truck driver flashed through the promenade almost 2 kilometres dealing death until he was liquidated by the police. Later in the truck they found the grenades and the guns.
According to the recent reports, the victims of this act of senseless brutality were 84 persons (another 18 are in hospital in a critical condition). President of France, Hollande named this incident a terrorist attack and announced that the emergency rule (which is imposed after the terrorist attacks in November) will be extended for another 3 months.
According to the Mayor of the city, Christian Estrosi, this was a greatest tragedy for the whole of history of Nice.
We grieve together with the relatives of the victims and the whole France.
